Quincy City Hall is near the Quincy Center MBTA Red Line station. The station is about two blocks from City Hall, making it easy to visit without driving. Bring a valid photo ID when requesting vital records in person.

Requesting Quincy Public Records
Anyone can request public records from Quincy under MGL Chapter 66, Section 10. The city has 10 business days to respond. Quincy has an online public records request form at quincyma.gov. You can use this form to submit a request electronically. You can also email cityclerk@quincyma.gov or submit a written request in person at City Hall.
Quincy is a municipality with over 20,000 residents. The first two hours of staff time spent on a records request are free. After that, the hourly rate is capped at $25. Copies on paper cost $0.05 per page. Electronic records sent by email are generally free. Quincy Vital Records
The Quincy City Clerk issues certified copies of birth, death, and marriage records. Each certified copy costs $15. You can make a request in person at City Hall or by mail. Mail requests need a completed form, a photocopy of a government-issued photo ID, and payment by check or money order made out to the City of Quincy. Include a self-addressed stamped envelope with mail requests for return delivery.
Certified copies are available to the individual named on the record, close family members, legal guardians, and parties with a documented legal need. Genealogy researchers may be able to access older records under state law. Quincy Property and Assessor Records
The Quincy Assessor's Office holds property assessments, ownership records, and tax data for all Quincy parcels. These records are public. Quincy Court and Police Records
Quincy District Court serves the city and nearby communities. Cases can be searched through MassCourts.org, the state's free public case access portal. The system covers civil and criminal cases across all Massachusetts trial courts. You can search by name or case number. Most docket information is viewable at no charge.
The Quincy Police Department handles requests for incident reports, accident reports, and other police records. Contact the department through the city's main website at quincyma.gov. Submit a written request with the date, location, and names involved. Police records requests follow the 10-business-day rule set by state law. Fees may apply for paper copies. For criminal background checks, use the Department of Criminal Justice Information Services at mass.gov/orgs/dcjis.
